End-of-Year Tax Deduction: Register Now for the 2009 ASLA Annual Meeting in Chicago
By popular demand, ASLA is now accepting registrations for the 2009 Annual Meeting and EXPO, September 18–21, in Chicago. Many landscape architects are using remaining 2008 budget funds to prepay fees for this and other 2009 events. Register before the end of the year and take the tax deduction for 2008*.
With 2009 budget planning in full swing, remember to budget for the most important landscape architecture event of the year. Landscape architecture professionals from around the globe will gather in Chicago for what promises to be the largest event in ASLA history. The theme will be Beyond Sustainability: Regenerating Places and People.
One of the most economical events of its kind, the ASLA Annual Meeting is jam-packed with more than 120 education sessions, field sessions, and tours. Full registration offers up to 21 professional development hours. The average attendee spends approximately $1,500 for registration, hotel, and transportation. Those and other costs associated with the meeting are tax deductible for industry professionals*.
Studies show that during tough economic times, professional development and networking helps firms compete for work. Many landscape architecture firms hold staff retreats during the annual meeting or reward staff for a job well done. If you would be interested in hosting a staff retreat during the 2009 annual meeting, please contact Meetings and Special Programs Director Joyce DePass at jdepass@asla.org.
Changing leaves, mild temperatures, and innovative design make Chicago a perfect location for landscape architecture professionals to assemble. Chicago is regarded as a top business travel destination, and September is the best time of year to visit according to www.tripadvisor.com. Plan now to attend!
